DROC Strength & Mobility turns 5
Three scaled strongman events. Free to enter, total beginners welcome. A birthday party around it — and every cent raised goes to the Meath Cancer Support Group.
Why we're lifting
In July 2025, our member Clare was diagnosed with breast cancer. Chemo, a double mastectomy, more chemo — a road she's still on today. Through all of it, the Meath Cancer Support Group have been in her corner.
“They made me feel I never was alone. The best support possible.”
MCSG — founded by cancer survivor Rachel Mullen — meets weekly in Trim and is fundraising for a permanent cancer-support home in Meath. Our 5th birthday target: €5,000 for 5 years. All of it theirs.
The competition
Novice & Open divisions, Women's & Men's — every event scaled so a first-timer can finish it and feel like a champion doing it. Coached from rep one, same as every DROC session.
60 seconds on the clock. The crowd counts your reps out loud.
Dumbbell → bar → log. How far up the ladder can you press?
Farmer's handles, sandbag, keg to the line. The finale.
Run of the evening
There's a place for everyone
30 spots, free to enter — each athlete sets a fundraising target for MCSG instead (suggested €100). Novice means novice — nobody's out of their depth.
Spectators free. Bring the kids (kids' corner 4–6pm), buy a raffle ticket, roar for a stranger.
Put your business's name on an event station, donate a raffle prize, or enter a 4-person crew. Talk to Darragh.
Can't make it? The donation page goes straight to MCSG. €5 for 5 years — every fiver counts.
Common questions
That's exactly who this is for. The Novice division uses scaled weights, and Darragh coaches every station on the night. If you train anywhere — or nowhere — you can finish these events.
Directly to the Meath Cancer Support Group via their donation page. Entry is free and DROC covers all the event costs, so 100% of what's raised — athlete fundraising, raffle, buckets — goes to the charity, towards their weekly support work and their permanent home fund.
Nothing — competing and spectating are both free. Athletes are asked to fundraise for MCSG instead of paying an entry fee. Bring a few euro for the raffle and the cake sale if you can.
Kennedy Centre has parking on site and nearby on Kennedy Road. Arrive a little early and car-pool if you can — it'll be busy.
Please. There's a free kids' corner (4–6pm) with mini strongman events and a medal for every child.
5 years of DROC. 1 member fighting. 1 county behind her.
